About us:

First of all, why GEKO DIVE, what has a geko to do with diving? Everybody knows that geko’s are not good swimmers and definitely not divers. Geko's are more seen climbing up walls and ceilings in a dry environment, be happy if you have them in your bungalow, they prevent you being eaten by mosquitoes, insects are there favorite dish.

The name was created after a dive at Bali’s east coast, at some dive spots the current can be very strong and parts of the dive we had to hold on to rocks, creeping along the walls like geko's, in order not to be flushed away by the drift. Sitting and talking together in the evening after that hard pounding diving adventure and having some inspiring drinks, the idea gekodiving found its origin.

Geko Dive was opened in June 1997 and is now very well established, since 1998 we became a PADI Resort. Fortunately we have one of
Bali’s best dive staff (English/German/Dutch
speaking), excellent divers with years of working experience in Bali’s dive
industry and still wild about diving.
Working together has always been fun and quite serene, to make sure that it stays like this we are not planning to get bigger than we are now.
Our philosophy is that diving should be an individual experience, therefore we keep dive groups small, divers of same levels dive together. We believe in the ultimate diving adventure for all our guests with utmost enjoyment and safety.
Team Geko Dive hopes to welcome you one day to share a relaxing time with us,
whether you are a beginner or professional diver, we will look after you
.

There are some other little things, besides diving, Geko Dive focuses on:

Geko Medical Fund

Since Indonesia was hit by an economical crisis it has made many necessities unaffordable for the ordinary folk. Geko Dive has established a fund to raise money for:
1. buying medicine for the people in need
2. cover expenses for hospitalization in case of medical emergencies (patient don't get treatment if they can't effort it, Indonesia has no compulsory health insurance system)
Our local doctor and the head of Padang Bai supervise this project

Geko Beach Cleaning Project

Plastic garbage is a huge problem in Asian countries! We can't continue watching this development anymore. Geko Dive employs four local persons on a constant basis to collect the plastic garbage from the beach of Padang Bai to make sure that it will not end up somewhere in the sea.
This Project also gives work and money to the local people.

If you like to have more specific information about these projects don't hesitate to contact us !
